Terms of Service Last updated: April 19, 2026 1. About BuyYourTime BuyYourTime is a screen time management app that requires you to make a small in-app purchase before accessing apps you have chosen to block. The app uses Apple's Screen Time / FamilyControls permission to shield selected apps, and lifts that shield for a limited time window after a successful purchase or use of a free weekly unlock. BuyYourTime is built by Loud Unicorn LLC and is designed to help you build healthier phone habits by attaching a real financial cost to impulsive app use. 2. Who Can Use BuyYourTime BuyYourTime is intended for users aged 13 and older. By using the app, you confirm that you are at least 13 years old. If you are under 18, you represent that you have obtained parental or guardian consent to use the app and agree to these Terms. 3. Permitted Uses - Select apps to block using Screen Time permission - Purchase timed unlock windows (1 hour, 3 hours, or 8 hours) - Use the weekly free 1-hour unlock once every 7 days - View your spending and resistance statistics - Share your stats as an image 4. Prohibited Uses - Attempting to bypass, disable, or circumvent the app blocking through technical means - Reverse engineering, decompiling, or tampering with the app - Manipulating device time, UserDefaults, or system settings to extend or reset unlock periods - Using the app in ways that violate Apple's App Store Guidelines or Screen Time API usage policies - Using the app for any unlawful purpose 5. Screen Time / FamilyControls Permission BuyYourTime requires access to Screen Time / FamilyControls to shield and unshield selected apps. Without this permission the app cannot function. By granting Screen Time permission, you allow BuyYourTime to: - Display a list of installed apps so you can choose which ones to block - Apply a shield to selected apps via ManagedSettings - Lift that shield after a completed purchase or weekly free unlock - Re-apply the shield automatically when your unlock window expires All app selection data stays on your device. We do not see, store, or transmit your Screen Time data or app choices. You can revoke Screen Time permission at any time in iOS Settings > Screen Time > Apps. Revoking permission will prevent the app from functioning correctly. 6. In-App Purchases — Consumable Unlocks BuyYourTime offers consumable (one-time, non-recurring) in-app purchases processed by Apple's App Store (StoreKit 2): 1-Hour Unlock: $1.99 (Product ID: com.loudunicorn.buyyourtime.unlock.1hr) 3-Hour Unlock: $4.99 (Product ID: com.loudunicorn.buyyourtime.unlock.3hr) 8-Hour Unlock: $9.99 (Product ID: com.loudunicorn.buyyourtime.unlock.8hr) Each purchase grants a single, timed unlock window. When the window expires, your selected apps are automatically re-blocked. Purchases are consumed immediately upon use and cannot be transferred, gifted, or restored. Free Weekly Unlock: BuyYourTime includes one free 1-hour unlock per 7-day period. This free unlock recharges automatically and requires no payment. It provides the same 1-hour window as the paid 1-hour product. NO SUBSCRIPTIONS: BuyYourTime does not offer subscriptions. All purchases are single-use consumables. Refunds: All purchases are processed by Apple. Because each unlock is consumed immediately upon activation, purchases are non-refundable except as required by applicable law or Apple's refund policy. To request a refund, contact Apple Support directly. We do not process refunds. Restore Purchases: Consumable in-app purchases cannot be restored because they are consumed upon use. The free weekly unlock is tracked locally on your device and does not require restoration. 7. Apple's Standard EULA In addition to these Terms, your use of BuyYourTime is governed by Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement (EULA), available at: https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula/ If there is a conflict between these Terms and Apple's EULA, Apple's EULA prevails. 8. Not Medical Advice / Not a Therapeutic Device BuyYourTime is a productivity and habit-formation tool. It is NOT a medical device and is NOT intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any medical or psychological condition, including screen addiction, compulsive phone use, or anxiety. The app is not a substitute for professional therapy, counseling, or medical advice. If you are experiencing compulsive phone use or any mental health condition, please consult a licensed healthcare provider. 9. Intellectual Property BuyYourTime, including its design, code, copy, graphics, and user interface, is owned by Loud Unicorn LLC and protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the app for personal, non-commercial purposes. You may not copy, modify, distribute, reverse engineer, or create derivative works from BuyYourTime. 10. User Conduct You agree to use BuyYourTime in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. You will not: - Tamper with the unlock timer, device clock, or local storage to extend or bypass paid unlock windows - Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the app or Apple's services - Interfere with the operation of the app or Apple's servers - Use the app for any commercial purpose without written permission from Loud Unicorn LLC 11. Disclaimer of Warranties BuyYourTime is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that: - The app will function without interruption or errors - Screen Time blocking will prevent access on all devices or iOS versions - The app will help you reduce phone usage or achieve any specific behavioral outcome - Unlock windows will expire at the exact second shown (system clock variations may apply) Apple's Screen Time API, ManagedSettings, and DeviceActivityMonitor are provided by Apple and subject to Apple's own availability and functionality. We are not responsible for changes, limitations, or failures in Apple's APIs. 12. Limitation of Liability To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Loud Unicorn LLC and its officers, directors, employees, and agents shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, revenue, data, or use, arising out of or related to your use of BuyYourTime, whether based on warranty, contract, tort (including negligence), or any other legal theory, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages. Our total aggregate liability for any claim arising out of or relating to these Terms or your use of BuyYourTime shall not exceed the amount you paid to us in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim. If you have not paid us anything, our liability is limited to $10 USD. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so the above limitations may not apply to you. 13. Indemnification You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Loud Unicorn LLC, its officers, directors, employees, agents, and affiliates from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, or expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or related to: - Your use of BuyYourTime - Your violation of these Terms - Your violation of any third-party rights, including Apple's terms - Your violation of any applicable law or regulation 14. Governing Law and Jurisdiction These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Arizona, USA, without regard to its conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising out of or relating to these Terms or your use of BuyYourTime shall be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Maricopa County, Arizona, USA. You consent to the personal jurisdiction of these courts and waive any objection to venue. 15. Arbitration Agreement and Class Action Waiver PLEASE READ THIS SECTION CAREFULLY. IT AFFECTS YOUR LEGAL RIGHTS, INCLUDING YOUR RIGHT TO FILE A LAWSUIT IN COURT. Agreement to Arbitrate: You and Loud Unicorn LLC agree that any dispute, claim, or controversy arising out of or relating to these Terms or your use of BuyYourTime (except for disputes related to intellectual property rights or injunctive relief) will be resolved by binding arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association (AAA) under its Consumer Arbitration Rules, rather than in court. Arbitration Process: Arbitration will be conducted in Maricopa County, Arizona, or remotely via videoconference or telephone if you prefer. The arbitrator's decision will be final and binding, and judgment on the award may be entered in any court of competent jurisdiction. Class Action Waiver: You and Loud Unicorn LLC agree that any arbitration or court proceeding will be conducted on an individual basis only, and not as a class action, consolidated action, or representative action. You waive your right to participate in a class action lawsuit or class-wide arbitration. Opt-Out: You may opt out of this arbitration agreement by sending written notice to support@loudunicorn.com within 30 days of first using BuyYourTime. Your notice must include your name, the email associated with your Apple ID (if applicable), and a clear statement that you wish to opt out of the arbitration agreement. Small Claims Court: Notwithstanding the above, you may bring an individual action in small claims court if your claim qualifies. 16. GDPR — Additional Terms for EU/EEA Users If you are located in the European Union (EU) or European Economic Area (EEA), the following additional terms apply under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR): Data Controller: Loud Unicorn LLC is the data controller for any personal data processed through BuyYourTime. Legal Basis: We process personal data under the legal bases of contractual necessity (Art. 6(1)(b)) and consent (Art. 6(1)(a)) as described in our Privacy Policy. Your Rights: You have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict processing, port, and object to processing of your personal data. See the Privacy Policy for details on how to exercise these rights. Supervisory Authority: You have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority if you believe your rights have been violated. Data Transfers: All data is stored locally on your device. StoreKit purchase verification is handled by Apple under their GDPR commitments and Standard Contractual Clauses. Withdrawing Consent: You may withdraw Screen Time permission consent at any time in iOS Settings. Contact: support@loudunicorn.com 17. CCPA/CPRA — Additional Terms for California Residents If you are a California resident, the following additional terms apply under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA): Categories of Personal Information: We collect spending history (purchase amounts and timestamps) and resistance event history stored locally on your device. We do not collect your name, email, phone number, or location. No Sale or Sharing: We do not sell or share your personal information. Your Rights: You have the right to know, delete, correct, and opt-out of sale/sharing (though we do not sell or share). See the Privacy Policy for how to exercise these rights. Non-Discrimination: We will not discriminate against you for exercising your CCPA/CPRA rights. Contact: support@loudunicorn.com 18. Termination We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to BuyYourTime at any time, with or without cause, if we believe you have violated these Terms. Active paid unlock windows are not refundable upon termination except as required by applicable law. You may terminate your use of BuyYourTime at any time by uninstalling the app. Uninstalling the app does not entitle you to a refund of any unused portion of a purchase. 19. Changes to These Terms We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you via an in-app notice. Your continued use of BuyYourTime after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms. The "Last updated" date at the top of these Terms indicates when they were last revised. 20. Severability If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable by a court of competent jurisdiction, the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect. 21. Entire Agreement These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and Apple's EULA, constitute the entire agreement between you and Loud Unicorn LLC regarding your use of BuyYourTime and supersede all prior agreements, representations, and understandings. 22.
