Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 30, 2026
Loud Unicorn LLC ("we," "us," "our") built FallWatch Family. This policy explains what data FallWatch Family collects, why, and how it is handled.
1. What Data We Collect and Why
Setup Data:
- Role — whether this device belongs to a monitored person or to a family member responding.
- Names — the display name of the monitored person and of each family member, entered during setup.
- Family code — a short code generated by the app that links a monitored person to their family members.
Fall Event Data:
- Fall events — the date and time Apple's fall detection reported a fall on the monitored person's Apple Watch or iPhone, plus the status the monitored person or family sets afterwards (for example "I'm OK" or "needs help").
- Location — if the monitored person enables it, the approximate location recorded at the time of a fall event, so family members know where to go. Location is recorded only in connection with a fall event, not continuously.
- Response thread — the messages family members send each other about a specific fall event.
Local Device Data:
- App preferences and settings — stored locally via UserDefaults
- Escalation and alert settings
- Subscription and purchase status — whether you have unlocked paid features, verified locally via Apple StoreKit 2
2. What We Do NOT Collect
- We do not collect email addresses, phone numbers, or government-issued identifiers
- We do not collect advertising identifiers (IDFA/IDFV) and do not use advertising SDKs
- We do not sell or share data with advertisers or data brokers
- We do not use analytics SDKs (no Firebase, Amplitude, or Mixpanel)
- We do not use crash reporting services
- We do not read your health records, medications, or medical history
- We do not continuously track location
- We do not access your camera, microphone, contacts, or photo library
- We do not contact emergency services on your behalf
3. Where Your Data Lives
Setup data, fall events, statuses, response messages, and fall-event locations are stored in Apple CloudKit so that a monitored person's device and their family members' devices can see the same event. App preferences stay on the device. We do not operate our own servers and hold no separate copy.
Important: this app uses Apple CloudKit's public database, which means records are stored in a shared CloudKit namespace rather than in a private per-user container. Access is gated by the session or family code, not by per-record encryption. Treat anything you type into the app as shareable with anyone who has the code. Do not enter medical record numbers, financial details, addresses, or other sensitive identifiers.
4. This Is Sensitive Data, and Here Is the Honest Limitation
A fall event with a timestamp and a location is sensitive information about a vulnerable person. Two things you must understand before using FallWatch Family:
First, anyone who has your family code can join your family group and see fall events, statuses, response messages, and fall-event locations. Treat the family code like a password. Share it only with the people you want to have this access, and generate a new group if a code is exposed.
Second, FallWatch Family does not call anyone for help. Apple's own fall detection on Apple Watch is what places an emergency call, and it does that independently of this app. FallWatch adds a coordination layer for the family afterwards. It is not a medical alert service, not a monitoring service, and no human being is watching. See the corresponding section in our Terms of Service.
Do not enter medical record numbers, insurance details, medication lists, diagnoses, or home addresses into names or messages.
5. Third-Party Services
- Apple CloudKit — stores the shared family group, fall events, statuses, response messages, and fall-event locations so all devices in the group see the same data. Apple's privacy policy applies: apple.com/privacy
- Apple CoreMotion fall detection — reports a detected fall to the app on the monitored person's device. Apple performs the detection; we receive only the event.
- Apple Core Location — used only to record an approximate location at the time of a fall event, if the monitored person enables it.
- Apple Watch Connectivity — passes fall events from a paired Apple Watch to the iPhone. Stays within your own devices.
- Apple StoreKit 2 — purchase and subscription processing. Apple handles all payment data. We receive only anonymized transaction receipts.
- Apple UserNotifications — local notifications scheduled on your device. Notification content is generated on-device and no data leaves your device.
We do not integrate any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking libraries.
6. Children's Data
FallWatch Family is intended for adults. It is designed for adult children coordinating around an aging parent. We do not knowingly collect information about anyone under 18. Contact maxthemoltbot@gmail.com with any concerns.
7. Data Retention and Deletion
- CloudKit fall events, statuses, and messages: persist until deleted in the app, subject to Apple's CloudKit retention
- Local preferences: removed when you uninstall
- Subscription records: managed by Apple
To remove your data: delete fall events and leave the family group inside the app before uninstalling. Uninstalling alone does not delete CloudKit records.
8. Security
Local data is protected by iOS application sandboxing. CloudKit data is protected in transit and at rest by Apple's infrastructure. Access to a family group is controlled by the family code only, not by per-record encryption, so the strength of that control depends entirely on you keeping the code private. We hold no user database.
9. Changes to This Policy
Material changes will be communicated via in-app notice. Continued use constitutes acceptance.
