Terms of Service Last updated: July 30, 2026 1. About Grief Journal Grief Journal is a guided journaling app for bereavement. It tracks the date of a loss and the milestones that follow, sends a gentle prompt on anniversaries and hard dates, keeps a memory vault of photos and notes, and includes grounding and breathing exercises plus a crisis resources screen. Entries can be locked behind Face ID or your passcode. Grief Journal is built by Loud Unicorn LLC. 2. Who Can Use Grief Journal Grief Journal is intended for users aged 13 and older. By using the app, you confirm that you are at least 13 years old. If you are under 18, you represent that you have obtained parental or guardian consent. 3. Permitted Uses - Write and store private journal entries - Record a date of loss and add milestone dates - Receive prompts on anniversaries and dates you choose - Add photos and notes to a memory vault - Use the included grounding and breathing exercises - Export your journal for your own records 4. Prohibited Uses - Using the app as a substitute for professional mental health care - Relying on the app in a crisis instead of contacting emergency services or a crisis line - Reverse engineering, decompiling, or tampering with the app - Automating or scripting interactions with the app - Sharing paid features with users who have not purchased them - Using the app in ways that violate Apple's App Store Guidelines 5. Not Medical or Mental Health Care Grief Journal is a self-reflection tool. It is not therapy, not counselling, not a medical device, and not a substitute for care from a qualified professional. It does not diagnose, treat, or monitor any condition. Nothing in the app is medical advice. If you are in crisis or thinking about harming yourself, contact your local emergency number or a crisis line immediately. In the United States, call or text 988 for the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline. The app includes a crisis resources screen, but the app itself cannot help you in an emergency and no one is monitoring what you write. 6. Premium Grief Journal is free to download and free to use for journaling and a limited number of milestone reminders. An optional auto-renewing subscription adds unlimited reminders, an unlimited memory vault, and monthly reflection reports. The price and billing period are shown in the app before purchase and are charged to your Apple ID. Auto-Renewal: Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the billing period. Your Apple ID account will be charged within 24 hours prior to renewal. Managing Subscriptions: Cancel anytime in iOS Settings > [Your Name] > Subscriptions. Cancelling stops future billing but does not refund the current period. Restore Purchases: Tap "Restore Purchases" in app settings on a new device to reactivate your purchase. Refunds: Handled by Apple. Contact Apple Support. We do not process refunds directly. 7. Apple's Standard EULA In addition to these Terms, your use of Grief Journal is governed by Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement (EULA): https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula/ 8. User Content You are responsible for the content you add to Grief Journal. You agree not to add content that is illegal, defamatory, harassing, threatening, or that violates the rights of others. We reserve the right to suspend access if content violates these Terms. 9. Intellectual Property Grief Journal, including its design, code, graphics, and user interface, is owned by Loud Unicorn LLC and protected by copyright and intellectual property laws. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the app for personal, non-commercial purposes. 10. Disclaimer of Warranties Grief Journal is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" without warranties of any kind. We do not warrant that: - Journal entries will be preserved indefinitely, or that we can recover a journal lost with a device - Reminders will be delivered at an exact time, since iOS controls notification delivery - The app will improve your wellbeing or resolve your grief - The app is free from bugs or errors 11. Limitation of Liability To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Loud Unicorn LLC shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of your use of Grief Journal. Our total aggregate liability shall not exceed the amount you paid to us in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim, or $10 USD if you have paid nothing. 12. Indemnification You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Loud Unicorn LLC from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, costs, or expenses arising out of your use of Grief Journal, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any third-party rights or applicable law. 13. Governing Law and Jurisdiction These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Arizona, USA, without regard to conflict of law principles. Disputes shall be resolved in the state or federal courts in Maricopa County, Arizona, USA. 14. Arbitration Agreement and Class Action Waiver Agreement to Arbitrate: You and Loud Unicorn LLC agree that any dispute arising out of these Terms or your use of Grief Journal (except intellectual property claims or requests for injunctive relief) will be resolved by binding arbitration under AAA Consumer Arbitration Rules. Class Action Waiver: All proceedings will be on an individual basis only. Opt-Out: You may opt out within 30 days of first use by emailing maxthemoltbot@gmail.com with your name and a clear opt-out statement. 15. GDPR — Additional Terms for EU/EEA Users Data Controller: Loud Unicorn LLC (maxthemoltbot@gmail.com). Legal Basis: Contractual necessity (Art. 6(1)(b)) for core app functionality; consent (Art. 6(1)(a)) for optional permissions. Your Rights: Access, rectify, erase, restrict, port, and object. Contact maxthemoltbot@gmail.com. Data Transfers: No data is transferred to our servers or outside the EU/EEA. All data remains on your device. Supervisory Authority: You may lodge a complaint with your local EU/EEA data protection authority. 16. CCPA/CPRA — Additional Terms for California Residents We do not sell or share your personal information. You have the right to know, delete, and correct. Contact maxthemoltbot@gmail.com. We will not discriminate against you for exercising CCPA/CPRA rights. 17. Termination We reserve the right to suspend access to Grief Journal if you violate these Terms. You may stop using the app at any time by uninstalling it. Uninstalling permanently deletes your journal, memories, and milestones. Export first if you want to keep a copy. We hold no backup and cannot restore anything. 18. Changes to These Terms Material changes will be communicated via in-app notice. Continued use constitutes acceptance. 19.
