Privacy Policy

1. INTRODUCTION
Local Facts ("App," "we," "us," or "our") is developed by Loud Unicorn LLC. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your information when you use our iOS application and associated services. We are committed to handling your data with transparency and care.
2. INFORMATION WE COLLECT
2.1 Location Data
The App collects your approximate GPS coordinates (latitude and longitude) when you have granted location permission and are actively using the App. Location data is used exclusively to query our backend API for trivia facts relevant to your current position. We do NOT store, log, retain, or share your location. Your coordinates are transmitted over HTTPS, used for a single real-time query, and immediately discarded. No location history is maintained on our servers.
2.2 Anonymous Error Reports
If the App encounters an error, it may send an anonymous error report to our own backend so we can diagnose and fix bugs. These reports contain only: the error type and message, the app version, your iOS version, and your device model. They contain no location data, no usage or behavioral tracking, and no personal identifier. We cannot and do not identify individual users from these reports. The App does not use any third-party analytics SDK.
2.3 Favorites and Preferences
If you save facts to your Favorites or configure preferences in Settings, this data is stored locally on your device only. It is never transmitted to or stored on our servers. Uninstalling the App permanently deletes all locally stored data.
2.4 In-App Purchases
Payments are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store, and we never receive, store, or process your payment information. To unlock, validate, and restore your Pro subscription across your devices, we use RevenueCat, Inc. as our purchase-infrastructure provider. RevenueCat receives a non-personal, app-generated identifier and your transaction status from Apple; it does not receive your name, email, or payment details. RevenueCat's privacy policy is available at https://www.revenuecat.com/privacy.
2.5 Information We Do NOT Collect
We do not collect: names, email addresses, phone numbers, advertising identifiers (IDFA), precise location history, contacts, photos, camera data, browsing history, or any other sensitive personal information. We use no third-party analytics SDKs, advertising networks, or data brokers.
3. HOW WE USE INFORMATION
Location data is used solely to retrieve nearby trivia facts from our database. Anonymous error reports are used solely to improve App stability and fix bugs. Purchase data is used solely to unlock and restore your Pro features. No data is used for advertising, marketing, or profiling.
4. DATA SHARING AND THIRD PARTIES
We do not sell, trade, or share your data with any third parties for commercial purposes. The only external processor we use is RevenueCat (for purchase validation, see Section 2.4), which receives only a non-personal identifier and transaction status. Disclosure may otherwise occur only if required by a valid legal order, in which case we will make reasonable efforts to notify you unless legally prohibited.
5. DATA RETENTION
Location data is not retained. Anonymous error reports are retained only as long as needed to diagnose and fix the underlying issue. Purchase records are retained by RevenueCat for as long as necessary to maintain your entitlements and as required by Apple. Local favorites and preferences are retained on your device until you delete them or uninstall the App.
6. SECURITY
All data in transit is encrypted using HTTPS/TLS 1.2 or higher. Local data on your device is protected by iOS Data Protection. Our API endpoints require authentication keys. While we apply industry-standard measures, no system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. CHILDREN'S PRIVACY
The App is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If we become aware of such collection, we will promptly delete the data.
8. GDPR (EUROPEAN USERS)
If you are in the EU, UK, or EEA: our legal basis for processing location data is your explicit consent via iOS permissions. Our legal basis for anonymous error reports is our legitimate interest in keeping the App stable. Location data is not retained, and error reports are anonymized and do not constitute personal data under GDPR. For any GDPR inquiries, contact us at the address in Section 11.
9. CCPA (CALIFORNIA RESIDENTS)
We do not sell or share personal information. Anonymous error reports cannot be linked to your identity, so individual deletion requests cannot be fulfilled. You are not required to opt out of data sales because no sales occur.
10. WIDGET EXTENSION
The App includes a WidgetKit extension that displays facts on your home screen. The widget primarily reads facts from a shared App Group container on your device. If you grant the widget location access, it may also read your approximate location and query our fact servers over HTTPS so it can refresh facts without the App being open. These widget queries work exactly like in-app fact queries: your approximate location is used for the query only and is not stored, logged, or associated with any identity. The widget never transmits any other personal information.
