Last updated: 2026-08-05 UVAWARE PRIVACY POLICY UVAware collects and uses data only to provide UV monitoring and sun-protection features. This policy explains what we collect, where it stays, and how it is used. DATA WE COLLECT Location. We collect your device's location to fetch real-time UV index data for your area. Location is used only to retrieve current conditions and forecasts; it is not stored on our servers, sold, or shared with third parties. Skin Profile Information. You provide your Fitzpatrick skin type when creating a profile. This information is stored on your device. If you enable family profiles (Pro feature), skin type data for all profiles syncs to your iCloud account under your Apple ID so you can view and manage profiles across your devices. Family members can see each other's skin type data only if you explicitly share a profile link with them. Exposure History. Your exposure duration and safe-time calculations are recorded on-device to show trends over time. This data does not leave your device unless you enable iCloud sync; if you do, it syncs securely through Apple's servers and remains encrypted at rest. Device Information. We may collect basic device model and OS version to ensure Watch complication features and haptic alerts work correctly. This information is not tied to your identity and is not shared. Usage Information. We track which features you use (widget interactions, alert acknowledgments) on-device only to improve the app's reliability. We do not send usage analytics to external servers. Vitamin D Tracking. If you opt into vitamin D tracking (Pro feature), estimates are calculated and stored on-device only, not sent to any server. DATA WE DO NOT COLLECT We do not collect health data from the Health app without explicit permission, and the app does not request HealthKit access unless you choose to export data to Health. We do not collect identifiable information such as your name, email, age, or device identifiers unless you create an account (currently not required). We do not track your location history over time. THIRD-PARTY SERVICES WeatherKit. UV index data is fetched from Apple's WeatherKit service. WeatherKit operates under Apple's privacy terms. We do not control how Apple handles this data beyond Apple's standard privacy practices. We do not use third-party analytics, advertising, or data brokers. FAMILY PROFILES AND CHILDREN If you are a parent using the family profiles feature to monitor children, you control which family members can see which profiles. Children do not need an Apple ID to have a profile in UVAware; their skin type and exposure history are managed through your iCloud account. DATA RETENTION On-device data is retained until you delete it or uninstall the app. iCloud-synced data persists in your iCloud account according to Apple's standard retention policies. YOUR RIGHTS You can delete any profile or exposure history at any time within the app. Deleting data removes it from your device immediately; if iCloud sync is enabled, it will be removed from iCloud within Apple's standard deletion windows. You can disable iCloud sync at any time in Settings; data already synced remains in iCloud but will not be updated further. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY We may update this policy if the app's features or data practices change.
