Last updated: 2026-08-05 FLAMEFREE FOODS PRIVACY POLICY FlameFree Foods is a barcode-scanning tool designed to help you identify ingredients in groceries. We collect minimal data and are transparent about how it's used. WHAT DATA WE COLLECT When you scan a barcode, FlameFree Foods identifies the product and retrieves its ingredient list and inflammation index score. To do this, we record: • The barcode number you scan • The product name, ingredients, and nutritional data associated with that barcode • Your scan history (stored on your device) If you subscribe to FlameFree Foods Pro, we additionally track: • Ingredients or foods you mark as personal inflammation triggers • Your historical inflammation scores for scanned foods • Your subscription status and payment method (processed by Apple) To limit your free tier to 10 scans per day, we record a count on your device tied to your unique device identifier. We do not collect your location, health records, contacts, photos, or any personal information beyond what is strictly necessary to operate these features. WHERE YOUR DATA LIVES Most of your data stays on your device. Specifically: • Scan history is stored locally on your iPhone • Personal trigger lists are stored locally on your iPhone • Free-tier scan counter is stored locally on your iPhone If you subscribe to FlameFree Foods Pro and enable iCloud sync (optional), we synchronize your trigger list and score history to your iCloud account so you can access this data across your devices. This sync is encrypted by Apple and stored in your personal iCloud account—we do not store it on our servers. Barcode lookups require communicating with our ingredient database. When you scan, we send the barcode number to our servers to retrieve product information. We retain this lookup data for 90 days to improve barcode accuracy; after 90 days, the record is deleted. Subscription data (whether you are an active Pro subscriber) is managed exclusively by Apple and is not stored by us beyond what is needed to verify your subscription status in-app. THIRD-PARTY SERVICES FlameFree Foods uses: • Apple's StoreKit framework to process Pro subscriptions • Apple's Vision framework to read barcodes on your device • Apple's iCloud if you enable sync (optional) We do not share data with third-party analytics companies, advertisers, or data brokers. YOUR RIGHTS You own your data. You can: • Delete all local scan history and triggers at any time via Settings > Clear All Data • Disable iCloud sync at any time; previously synced data remains in your iCloud account until you delete it there • Cancel your Pro subscription anytime through your Apple account RETENTION AND DELETION If you delete the app, all local data is removed from your device. Synced data in iCloud remains until you delete it manually through iCloud settings. Our barcode lookup records are deleted after 90 days. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY We may update this policy if we add features that affect what data we collect. We will notify you in-app of material changes. CONTACT Questions about this policy?
