Last updated: 2026-08-05 PRIVACY POLICY FOR GRATITUDEPAIR GratitudePair is built to protect your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, how we store it, and how you control it. WHAT DATA WE COLLECT When you use GratitudePair, we collect: — Pair code: A unique code you generate or receive to match with your partner. Used only to connect your device to one other device. — Gratitude entries: The text you write each day. Stored locally on your device first, then synced to our server so your partner can receive your entry at the scheduled reveal time. — User preferences: The time you choose for daily reveals, any theme or display settings, notification preferences, subscription status. — Widget state: Whether you have written your gratitude that day (displayed on your home screen). The content itself is never shown in the widget. — Purchase information: Your subscription or one-time purchase status, managed through Apple's App Store. — Export requests: If you export your data or generate a yearbook, we process that request and temporarily store it to create your file. Device identifiers (like your device's unique ID for Apple services) are used only to sync your data across your own devices or to check your subscription status. We do not collect: your name, email, location, contacts, photos, or any other personal information beyond what you voluntarily type into the app. WHAT STAYS ON YOUR DEVICE All gratitude entries, preferences, and widget state are first stored on your device. They stay there until you open the app, at which point they sync to our server for sharing with your partner. You can delete any entry, and it will be removed from both your device and our server. WHAT WE SYNC TO OUR SERVERS Your pair code and gratitude entries must reach our servers so we can match your entries with your partner's and deliver them both at the scheduled reveal time. We also store your subscription status to validate your access to premium features (history search, themes, yearbook generation). All data in transit is encrypted. Data at rest on our servers is encrypted. HOW LONG WE KEEP YOUR DATA Gratitude entries are stored indefinitely unless you delete them. If you delete an entry, it is removed from our servers within 24 hours. If you delete your account or unpair from your partner, all associated data (pair code, entries, preferences) is deleted from our servers within 30 days. Subscription and purchase records are kept as required by law and Apple's policies. YOUR RIGHTS You can export all your data in a standard format at any time from within the app. You can delete individual entries or your entire history. You can unpair from your partner (which breaks the connection but does not delete past entries unless you explicitly delete them). If you request deletion of your account, we delete all data associated with it within 30 days. THIRD-PARTY SERVICES GratitudePair uses only Apple's standard frameworks (StoreKit for purchases, WidgetKit for widgets, CloudKit for optional iCloud sync if enabled in system settings). We do not use analytics services, advertising networks, or third-party crash reporters. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY We may update this policy. The date at the top will reflect the latest version.
