HAM RADIO iOS LOGBOOK — PRIVACY POLICY
Ham Radio iOS Logbook is a QSO (amateur radio contact) logging app for iOS. This privacy policy describes what data we collect, where it is stored, and how it is used.
DATA WE COLLECT
QSO Log Entries: When you log a radio contact, we collect the callsign contacted, frequency, date/time, mode, signal reports, and any notes you enter. This data is stored on your device by default.
Location Data: If you enable location services, we collect your GPS coordinates to automatically calculate your grid square. This is used only to populate the GRIDSQUARE field in your QSO records. Location data is not stored on our servers and is not shared with third parties.
iCloud Sync: If you enable CloudKit sync (iCloud backup), your QSO log entries are encrypted and synced to your personal iCloud account. This is optional. If disabled, your log remains on-device only. You control whether this feature is active in Settings.
ADIF Import/Export: When you import or export ADIF files, we do not collect or store copies of these files. Import/export happens locally on your device.
App Analytics: We do not collect app analytics, crash reports, or telemetry. No usage data is sent to us.
Third-Party Service Lookups: When you perform a QRZ.com callsign lookup, your query is sent directly to QRZ.com. When you use LoTW upload, your QSO records are sent to the ARRL's Logbook of The World service. When you browse POTA/SOTA reference data, queries go to those services. We do not see, store, or log these transactions.
Subscription and In-App Purchase Data: Apple processes all subscription and purchase transactions. We receive only a notification that a purchase occurred; we do not store payment information or purchase history.
DATA RETAINED ON YOUR DEVICE
Your QSO log, awards progress, preferences, and settings are stored locally on your iPhone using CloudKit, which syncs to your iCloud account if enabled. These records remain under your control at all times. You can delete individual QSOs or your entire log from the app at any time.
THIRD-PARTY SERVICES
This app integrates with the following external services:
— Apple CloudKit: Syncs your QSO data to your personal iCloud account if you enable sync.
— QRZ.com: When you look up a callsign, your query is sent to QRZ.com's servers.
— ARRL Logbook of The World (LoTW): When you upload QSOs to LoTW, your log data is sent to the ARRL.
— POTA/SOTA Services: When you browse activation data, requests are sent to Parks on the Air and Summits on the Air services.
We recommend reviewing the privacy policies of these services directly. We do not control their data practices.
DATA RETENTION
QSO records are retained indefinitely on your device unless you delete them. If you disable iCloud sync, synced records remain in your iCloud account until you manually delete them. Deleted records cannot be recovered.
YOUR RIGHTS
You can request a copy of your QSO data by exporting to ADIF format at any time. You can delete your log or reset the app entirely. You can disable iCloud sync in Settings, which stops syncing future entries but does not delete existing synced records from iCloud.
CHANGES TO THIS POLICY
We may update this policy. Changes will be posted with a new "Last updated" date. Continued use of the app means you accept the updated terms.
