Terms of Service Last updated: April 23, 2026 1. About HouseRules Board HouseRules Board is an iOS app that helps roommates and shared households create, agree on, and manage house rules together. Household members co-author living agreements covering quiet hours, guest policy, chore rotation, kitchen etiquette, and more. The app uses Apple CloudKit to sync the household board across all members' devices, and optionally syncs chore assignments to Apple Reminders. HouseRules Board is built by Loud Unicorn LLC. 2. Who Can Use HouseRules Board HouseRules Board is intended for users aged 13 and older. By using the app, you confirm that you are at least 13 years old. If you are under 18, you represent that you have obtained parental or guardian consent to use the app and agree to these Terms. 3. Permitted Uses - Create or join a household and co-author house rules - Assign chores to household members with deadlines and point values - Complete chores and earn points on the household leaderboard - Redeem points for household-defined rewards - Add and manage family members (name, emoji, age group) - Sync chore reminders to Apple Reminders - Export household agreements or chore summaries to PDF (Premium) - Subscribe to Premium for households with 3 or more members 4. Prohibited Uses - Creating household content that is illegal, harassing, threatening, or violates third-party rights - Reverse engineering, decompiling, or tampering with the app - Using the app for commercial property management, landlord tenant agreements, or legal contracts - Automating or scripting interactions with the app - Sharing Premium with non-paying users - Using the app in ways that violate Apple's App Store Guidelines 5. CloudKit and Data Sync HouseRules Board uses Apple CloudKit to sync household data — house rules, chore assignments, member profiles, chore completions, and rewards — across all household members' devices. By using HouseRules Board, you understand that: - Household data is stored in Apple's CloudKit infrastructure - All household members can view and interact with the shared data - You should not include sensitive personal information (e.g., financial data, legal documents, personal identification numbers) in house rules or chore notes - HouseRules Board is not a legally binding contract tool — rules and agreements created in the app are not enforceable legal documents Potluck Coordinator does not operate its own backend servers. All household data is stored in Apple CloudKit under Apple's privacy practices (apple.com/privacy). 6. Not Legal Advice HouseRules Board is a household coordination tool, not a legal service. Agreements created in the app are not legally binding contracts, tenancy agreements, or enforceable legal documents. For legally binding roommate agreements or tenancy matters, consult a licensed attorney. 7. Premium — Monthly Subscription HouseRules Board offers an optional auto-renewing monthly subscription via Apple's App Store (StoreKit 2): Premium subscription: $2.99/month Premium unlocks for households with 3 or more members: - Unlimited household members (free tier: 2 members) - PDF export of house rules and chore summaries - Recurring chore rotation automation Auto-Renewal: Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the billing period. Your Apple ID account will be charged within 24 hours prior to renewal. Managing Subscriptions: Cancel anytime in iOS Settings > [Your Name] > Subscriptions. Cancelling stops future billing but does not refund the current period. Restore Purchases: Tap "Restore Purchases" on a new device to reactivate your subscription. Refunds: Handled by Apple. Contact Apple Support. We do not process refunds directly. 8. Apple's Standard EULA In addition to these Terms, your use of HouseRules Board is governed by Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement (EULA): https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula/ 9. User Content You are responsible for the content you add to HouseRules Board. You agree not to add content that is illegal, defamatory, threatening, or that violates the rights of others. We reserve the right to suspend access if content violates these Terms. 10. Intellectual Property HouseRules Board, including its design, code, graphics, and user interface, is owned by Loud Unicorn LLC and protected by copyright and intellectual property laws. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the app for personal, non-commercial household coordination purposes. 11. Disclaimer of Warranties HouseRules Board is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" without warranties of any kind. We do not warrant that: - CloudKit sync will always be instantaneous or available - The app will prevent or resolve roommate disputes - Chore data or house rules will be preserved indefinitely - The app is free from bugs or errors 12. Limitation of Liability To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Loud Unicorn LLC shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of your use of HouseRules Board. Our total aggregate liability shall not exceed the amount you paid to us in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim, or $10 USD if you have paid nothing. 13. Indemnification You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Loud Unicorn LLC from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, costs, or expenses arising out of your use of HouseRules Board, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any third-party rights or applicable law. 14. Governing Law and Jurisdiction These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Arizona, USA, without regard to conflict of law principles. Disputes shall be resolved in the state or federal courts in Maricopa County, Arizona, USA. 15. Arbitration Agreement and Class Action Waiver Agreement to Arbitrate: You and Loud Unicorn LLC agree that any dispute arising out of these Terms or your use of HouseRules Board (except IP or injunctive relief) will be resolved by binding arbitration under AAA Consumer Arbitration Rules. Class Action Waiver: All proceedings will be on an individual basis only. Opt-Out: You may opt out within 30 days of first use by emailing maxthemoltbot@gmail.com with your name and a clear opt-out statement. 16. GDPR — Additional Terms for EU/EEA Users Data Controller: Loud Unicorn LLC (maxthemoltbot@gmail.com). Legal Basis: Contractual necessity (Art. 6(1)(b)) for household sync; consent (Art. 6(1)(a)) for Reminders integration. Your Rights: Access, rectify, erase, restrict, port, and object. Contact maxthemoltbot@gmail.com. Data Transfers: Household data stored in Apple CloudKit under Apple's GDPR commitments. No data transferred to our own servers. Supervisory Authority: You may lodge a complaint with your local EU/EEA data protection authority. 17. CCPA/CPRA — Additional Terms for California Residents We do not sell or share your personal information. You have the right to know, delete, and correct. Contact maxthemoltbot@gmail.com. We will not discriminate against you for exercising CCPA/CPRA rights. 18. Termination We reserve the right to suspend access to HouseRules Board if you violate these Terms. You may stop using the app at any time by uninstalling it. Uninstalling does not delete CloudKit household data — you should remove household data within the app before uninstalling if you wish to delete it. 19. Changes to These Terms Material changes will be communicated via in-app notice. Continued use constitutes acceptance. 20.
