Last updated: 2026-09-03 MEALVOTE FAMILY PRIVACY POLICY Your Privacy Matters MealVote Family helps your household plan meals together. This policy explains what data we collect, where it lives, and how we protect it. Data We Collect MealVote Family collects: - Household members and their names (entered during setup) - Meal votes: Yes, Veto, and Top 3 rankings for each ballot - Meals you add: name, category, optional description, and any photos you upload - Your family's meal history and preferences (swipe history, favorites, vetos) - Household settings: size, unit preference (metric/imperial), grocery list preferences - Notification preferences and Home Screen widget state - Pro account information: monthly credit balance and usage - Your Apple ID and iCloud credentials (to enable multi-device CloudKit sync) What Stays On Your Device The following data remains stored on your iPhone or iPad and is never sent to our servers: - Your local copy of the meal database and voting history - Generated meal photos you create locally (unless you choose to export them) - Grocery list data before export - Household invite links and codes What We Sync and Where Your household voting data and meal preferences sync via Apple CloudKit to iCloud so all family members can vote and see results in real time. CloudKit is Apple's service and is subject to Apple's privacy policies. Specifically: - Meal votes and rankings - Household member names and IDs - Favorite meals and veto history - Household settings and preferences These are stored in a CloudKit shared zone that your household owns. Only people you invite to your household can access this data. Photos You Add If you upload a photo to a meal: - It is stored on your device and in your iCloud account via CloudKit - If you submit it to our Nutritionist recipe library (optional), it is uploaded to our servers to make the recipe available to other families - You can delete photos at any time; deletion syncs across all your devices Pro Credits and Billing If you use MealVote Pro (meal photo generation): - We track your monthly credit balance and usage - Billing information (Apple ID, subscription status) comes through Apple's App Store and is not stored by us - We do not see your payment methods or full Apple ID details What We Do Not Collect We do not collect: - Precise location data - Device identifiers (IDFA, UDID) - Browsing history - Health or nutrition data beyond what you voluntarily enter - Video or audio of your household Third-Party Services MealVote Family uses only Apple's native frameworks (CloudKit, HealthKit for optional integration) and does not use external analytics or ad networks. No data is shared with third parties except Apple (for iCloud sync and CloudKit storage) and Apple App Store (for billing and subscription management). Data Deletion You can delete your account and all associated data in Settings > Account. Deletion is permanent and takes effect immediately on your device and across all household devices via CloudKit. Shared recipes you submitted remain in the library under a placeholder. Changes to This Policy If we make material changes to this policy, we will notify you via app notification at least 30 days before the change takes effect.
