PRIVACY POLICY — SCREENSHOT INBOX
Screenshot Inbox ("the app") is designed to help you triage and delete screenshots. This policy explains what data the app collects and how it is handled.
DATA COLLECTED
The app requests access to your photo library to identify and display screenshots. It uses Apple's PhotoKit framework with the PHAssetMediaSubtypePhotoScreenshot filter to isolate only screenshots—not other photos. This access is required for the app to function.
When you use the app, it collects:
- Screenshot metadata: filename, creation date, size, and image data (only while the app is open).
- Your triage actions: which screenshots you marked as Act, Keep, or Delete, and when those actions occurred. This data is stored locally on your device only.
- Recovery bin activity: deleted screenshots are retained in an on-device recovery bin for 30 days to allow undo. After 30 days, they are permanently deleted from the app's recovery storage (they remain deleted from your photo library as you chose).
- Widget data: the app records how many screenshots you cleared in each week to power the weekly cleared-count widget. This is stored locally.
- Optional send history: if you choose to send extracted content (addresses, codes, links, dates, contacts) to Calendar, Contacts, Reminders, or Safari, the app records that action. The app does not retain copies of sent content; it only triggers Apple's native apps to accept what you send.
- Subscription status: if you purchase a subscription, the app receives your subscription status from Apple (active, expired, etc.) for paywall logic. Apple, not this app, manages payment processing and billing data.
DATA NOT COLLECTED
The app does not collect: analytics, crash reports, user behavior tracking, device identifiers (IDFA, advertising ID), location data, contacts, calendar events, or any health data. The app does not send screenshots or their contents to any external server. The app does not use third-party SDKs for tracking, analytics, or advertising.
ON-DEVICE VS. SERVER PROCESSING
All processing of screenshot content happens on your device. When the app extracts text from a screenshot (addresses, codes, links, dates, contacts), it uses Apple's Live Text engine, which runs on-device. No image or extracted data is sent to a server or third party.
The app does not sync screenshots, triage history, or recovery bin data to iCloud or any cloud service. Your triage decisions and deleted screenshots remain on your device. If you delete the app or reset your device, this data is lost (except items remaining in your photo library's own trash).
THIRD-PARTY SERVICES
The app integrates with Apple's native services (Calendar, Contacts, Reminders, Safari) only when you explicitly choose to send extracted content to them. Apple's privacy policies apply to those services. The app does not integrate with external analytics, crash reporting, or advertising services.
Subscription management is handled by Apple In-App Purchase. Apple processes payment information; the app only receives your subscription status. See Apple's privacy policy for App Store and In-App Purchase privacy details.
PAYWALL AND DELETION
The app permits you to delete screenshots without payment. A subscription is optional and unlocks features beyond basic triage and deletion (feature set subject to change). Subscribing does not change what data the app collects or how it is used.
DATA RETENTION AND DELETION
Deleted screenshots are deleted from your photo library immediately upon your request. They are retained in the app's recovery bin for 30 days, then permanently deleted. Triage history and widget data are retained locally until you delete the app. You can request permanent deletion by deleting the app and clearing its local storage via iPhone Settings > General > iPhone Storage > Screenshot Inbox > Offload App or Delete App.
CHANGES TO THIS POLICY
We may update this policy. We will notify you of material changes by updating the "Last updated" date in the app and via app release notes.
