Last updated: 2026-08-05 SKINNYFAT PRIVACY POLICY SkinnyFat is a free iOS workout app that helps you build and maintain an exercise routine through reminders, logging, and progress tracking. This privacy policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and where it lives. WHAT WE COLLECT On-Device Data (stays on your phone and iPad): - Your body weight, weight goals, and body composition data - Workout history, session notes, and performance metrics (sets, reps, weights) - Exercise videos, YouTube links you open, and yoga pose preferences - Photos of gym machines and your machine-specific settings - Personal records (PRs) and progression hints you create - Your workout schedule, days, times, and streak count - Heart rate data from your Apple Watch (processed locally, not sent to SkinnyFat servers) - Meditation timer sessions and bell preferences - Siri voice commands and their results (e.g., "log 10 reps") - All app preferences, focus slider settings, and Dark Mode state CloudKit Sync (encrypted and synced to iCloud): - To enable seamless sync across your iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch, SkinnyFat syncs your body weight goals, workout history, machine settings, photos, PRs, and schedule to Apple's CloudKit. This requires an Apple ID. If you disable iCloud sync in Settings, this data remains on-device only. Third-Party Services: - YouTube: We provide deep links to YouTube for exercise videos. YouTube collects data per its privacy policy (youtube.com/howyoutubeworks/our-commitments/protecting-privacy). SkinnyFat never opens YouTube in an in-app browser or embeds video directly. - No analytics SDKs, crash reporting, or ad networks are used. WHAT WE DON'T COLLECT - Your location (except Home/Gym selection you provide for session context) - Biometric data beyond heart rate from your Watch - Audio or video from your device - Your contact list, calendar, or other apps' data - Your name, email, or payment information (the app is free) HOW WE USE YOUR DATA Your data helps us: - Generate your workout sessions and progression hints - Sync your workouts and settings across devices - Show your streaks, PRs, and body weight trends - Calculate plate and warm-up set combinations - Deliver workout reminders and notifications DATA SECURITY Your data is encrypted in transit to iCloud via CloudKit. Photos and logs are encrypted at rest. SkinnyFat does not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties. We do not process data on external servers; everything either lives on your device or in your iCloud account, which only you can access with your Apple ID. RETENTION Your data persists until you delete it from the app or your iCloud account. Deleting the app does not delete iCloud-synced data; you must manage that separately in iCloud Settings. CHILDREN SkinnyFat does not knowingly collect data from users under 13. If we discover we have, we will delete it immediately. YOUR RIGHTS You can request deletion of your data at any time by contacting us. You can also disable iCloud sync to keep all data on-device, or delete the app and your iCloud data via Settings. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY We may update this policy. Material changes will be noted with an updated date above. Continued use of the app constitutes acceptance of changes.
