Last updated: 2026-08-05 Privacy Policy — Sourdough Companion Sourdough Companion is designed to help you track your sourdough fermentation and baking. This privacy policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and how it is protected. Data We Collect When you use Sourdough Companion, the app collects the following information that you directly provide: Sourdough Starter Data: Information about your sourdough starters, including creation dates, feeding history, freshness status, and any notes you add. Fermentation Logs: Temperature readings, timer durations, hydration ratios, and other parameters you input during fermentation cycles. Recipe Data: Ingredient measurements, hydration percentages, recipe scaling adjustments, and personal notes. Bake Journal Entries: Photos you capture in the app, crumb quality ratings on a 1-5 scale, and baking notes. App Preferences: Your choice of dark theme or light theme, notification settings, and which recipes you save or mark as favorites. We do not collect your location, contacts, calendar events, or any device identifiers. We do not track when you use the app or how often you bake. On-Device Storage All of your sourdough data is stored exclusively on your device. The app operates fully offline and does not sync data to any servers. We do not store your starters, recipes, fermentation logs, or bake journals in the cloud. If you delete Sourdough Companion, all stored data is deleted from your device. In-App Purchases and Payments Sourdough Companion offers premium features via in-app purchase. Apple handles all payment processing through the App Store. We do not collect, store, or have access to your payment information. Apple provides us only with transaction records necessary to validate your subscription status. Third-Party Services Sourdough Companion does not use third-party analytics, advertising networks, or data collection services. The app relies only on Apple's standard frameworks. Permissions Requested Sourdough Companion may request these iOS permissions: Camera: Required to photograph bakes for your journal. This permission is optional—you can deny it and use the app without the photo feature. Notifications: To send an optional single 36-hour reminder when your starter freshness indicator fades. You can disable this in iOS Settings. All permissions are optional. Core app functionality does not require them. Data Security Your data is protected by iOS's built-in encryption and file protection. Only Sourdough Companion can access your app data. Children's Privacy Sourdough Companion is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. Policy Updates We may update this policy as our app or practices change. Changes are effective immediately upon posting. We will update the "Last updated" date above. Your continued use constitutes acceptance of changes.
