PRIVACY POLICY FOR WARRANTYVAULT
WarrantyVault helps you track appliance warranties by photographing receipts and warranty cards. This privacy policy explains what data we collect and how we protect it.
WHAT DATA WE COLLECT
Camera and Images
When you photograph a receipt or warranty card, the image is processed locally on your device using Apple's Vision framework to extract warranty information (expiration dates, product names, coverage terms). Images are not sent to our servers unless you enable iCloud sync.
Warranty Information
WarrantyVault stores the warranty data you create: product name, purchase date, expiration date, warranty coverage details, claim information, and any notes you add. This data remains on your device by default.
Account and Sync Data
If you enable iCloud sync in the app's settings, your warranty data syncs to your personal iCloud account managed by Apple. We do not access, store, or process this synced data on our servers. Sync is completely optional and disabled by default.
Payment Information
The $3.99 one-time unlock is processed through the Apple App Store. We do not collect, store, or access payment card information, purchase receipts, or transaction details. All payment processing is handled by Apple under their terms.
Household Sharing
If you enable household sharing on your unlock purchase, Apple manages the sharing through your iCloud Family account. We do not store or process household member information.
Usage Analytics
WarrantyVault uses Apple's native analytics frameworks to track app crashes and feature performance. No personal information is included. You can opt out of iOS analytics in Settings > Privacy > Analytics.
Device Identifiers
The app may access your device's advertising identifier (IDFA) only if you have enabled app tracking in iOS Settings > Privacy > Tracking. You can disable this at any time.
DATA STORAGE AND TRANSMISSION
All warranty information—scanned images, extracted data, notes, and expiration alerts—remains on your device by default. We do not send warranty data to our servers. The only exceptions are:
- When you choose to enable iCloud sync, which transmits data to Apple's servers
- When generating claim filing templates, which are created locally on your device
THIRD-PARTY SERVICES
WarrantyVault uses only Apple's native iOS frameworks for image processing and optional cloud sync. We do not integrate third-party analytics platforms, advertising networks, or external cloud services beyond iCloud.
DATA RETENTION AND DELETION
Warranty data persists on your device until you manually delete individual items or uninstall the app. If you've synced to iCloud, data remains in your iCloud account until you delete it there or close your iCloud account.
SECURITY
Data stored locally is protected by iOS encryption and Apple's file-level security. Data synced to iCloud is encrypted in transit and encrypted at rest using Apple's end-to-end encryption.
CHILDREN'S PRIVACY
WarrantyVault is designed for adults managing household appliances. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If a child uses the app with parental supervision, no personal information is collected.
YOUR CONTROL
You have complete control over your warranty data:
- All data is viewable on your device
- Delete any warranty item at any time
- Disable or re-enable iCloud sync whenever you choose
- Uninstall the app to remove all local data
POLICY CHANGES
We may update this policy as the app evolves. Significant changes will be noted in app release notes.
