This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and what choices you have. DATA COLLECTION WonderScope collects the following information to provide the app's core functions: Object Scans: When your child points their camera at an object, the app processes the image locally on the device to identify the object and generate science facts. The image itself is not stored or sent to our servers unless you explicitly enable cloud backup of discoveries. Quiz Responses: Answers to the 3-question challenges are stored locally on the device. If you enable backup through the parent dashboard, quiz progress and results are encrypted and synced to our servers. Parent Dashboard Activity: If you set up a parent account, we collect data about which discoveries your child has made, their quiz performance, and suggested experiments. This data is synced to our servers only when you actively use the dashboard feature. Account Information: If you create an account to sync data across devices or enable backup, we collect your email address and a password hash for authentication. Device Identifiers: We use Apple's standard device identifiers to encrypt and manage backups. These are never shared with third parties. Payment Information: All app purchases are processed through Apple's App Store. We do not collect, store, or process payment information directly. DATA STORAGE On-Device: The app processes all camera images locally using Apple's on-device machine learning framework. Images are not saved unless you take a screenshot or export a discovery. The app's local database contains your child's scanned objects, quiz responses, and any notes—this data remains on your device until you choose to sync. Cloud Backup: If you enable backup in the parent dashboard, we store encrypted copies of scanned discoveries, quiz progress, and experiment suggestions on our servers. This allows you to restore data if you switch devices or reinstall the app. You can disable backup or delete synced data at any time through the app settings. Offline Mode: WonderScope works entirely offline. Object recognition, science facts, and challenges function without an internet connection. Any data generated offline is stored locally and synced only when you reconnect and enable backup. THIRD-PARTY SERVICES WonderScope uses only Apple's built-in frameworks (Core Vision and ML Kit) for object recognition and machine learning. We do not use third-party analytics, tracking, or advertising SDKs. The app is ad-free. Payment processing is handled by Apple through the App Store. Apple's privacy policy governs that transaction. CHILDREN'S PRIVACY WonderScope is designed for ages 6–10. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13 except through the parent account setup. Parents can review, update, or delete their child's data at any time through the dashboard. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY We may update this privacy policy to reflect changes in our practices. We will notify you by email if we make material changes that affect how we handle your data.
