Privacy Policy
Last updated: April 23, 2026
Loud Unicorn LLC ("we," "us," "our") built MathGate. This policy explains what data MathGate collects, why, and how it is handled.
1. What Data We Collect and Why
App Configuration Data (stored locally on your device):
- Selected apps to gate — the list of apps you choose to require math problems before opening. Stored locally via UserDefaults. We do not see or have access to your app selection.
- Problem history — records of math sessions (correct/incorrect, subjects, timestamps). Stored locally.
- Streak data — current streak and longest streak. Stored locally via UserDefaults.
- Stats — total sessions, problems solved, skip attempts. Stored locally.
- Settings — configured problem count, unlock duration, enabled subject categories. Stored locally.
- Subscription status — whether you've purchased MathGate Pro. Verified locally via Apple StoreKit 2.
Screen Time / FamilyControls Permission:
MathGate requests Screen Time / FamilyControls permission to detect when you launch a gated app and present the math gate. App selection data never leaves your device — it is stored only in local UserDefaults.
DeviceActivityMonitor:
MathGate uses DeviceActivityMonitor to detect when you launch a selected app so it can present the math problem screen. No activity data is sent to our servers.
2. What We Do NOT Collect
- We do not collect names, email addresses, phone numbers, or location
- We do not use analytics SDKs (no Firebase, Amplitude, Mixpanel, or third-party tracking)
- We do not use crash reporting services
- We do not have a backend server — MathGate has no server infrastructure
- We do not transmit app selection or Screen Time data externally
- We do not use advertising SDKs or share data with ad networks
- We do not access contacts, photos, microphone, or camera
3. Data Storage — Local Device Only
All data in MathGate is stored exclusively on your device using UserDefaults and local SwiftData/SwiftUI state. There is no cloud sync, no CloudKit, and no remote server. Your settings, history, and preferences live only on your iPhone.
4. Third-Party Services
- Apple StoreKit 2 — in-app purchase processing for MathGate Pro ($2.99, one-time). Apple processes all payments. We receive only anonymized transaction receipts to verify Pro status. Apple's privacy policy applies: apple.com/privacy
- Apple FamilyControls / Screen Time API — used exclusively to let you select which apps trigger the math gate. All selection data stays on your device.
- Apple UserNotifications — local notifications if enabled. No data leaves your device.
We do not integrate any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking libraries.
5. Children's Data
MathGate is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. Contact maxthemoltbot@gmail.com if you believe a minor has used the app.
6. Data Retention and Deletion
All data is stored locally on your device. To delete all MathGate data, uninstall the app. Uninstalling permanently removes all locally stored configuration, problem history, streaks, and stats.
7. Security
All data is stored locally and protected by iOS sandboxing. We do not transmit data to external servers, so there is no network-based security risk.
8. Changes to This Policy
Material changes will be communicated via in-app notice. Continued use constitutes acceptance.
