Terms of Service Last updated: April 23, 2026 1. About MathGate MathGate is an iOS app that requires you to solve math problems before opening apps you've designated as distracting. You select which apps trigger MathGate using Apple's Screen Time / FamilyControls permission. When you open a gated app, MathGate presents a set of math problems — covering fractions, long division, algebra, percentages, and geometry — that you must complete before proceeding. MathGate is built by Loud Unicorn LLC and is designed to build intentional phone habits through cognitive friction. 2. Who Can Use MathGate MathGate is intended for users aged 13 and older. By using the app, you confirm that you are at least 13 years old. If you are under 18, you represent that you have obtained parental or guardian consent to use the app and agree to these Terms. 3. Permitted Uses - Select apps to gate using Screen Time / FamilyControls permission - Solve math problems to earn access to selected apps - Track streaks, stats, and problem history - Configure problem count, unlock duration, and subject categories (Pro) - Purchase MathGate Pro for access to additional configuration features 4. Prohibited Uses - Attempting to bypass, disable, or circumvent the math gate through technical means - Automating or scripting math problem answers - Reverse engineering, decompiling, or tampering with the app - Using the app in ways that violate Apple's App Store Guidelines or Screen Time API usage policies - Sharing your Pro purchase with other users (purchases are tied to your Apple ID) - Using the app for any unlawful purpose 5. Screen Time / FamilyControls Permission MathGate requires access to Screen Time / FamilyControls to function. This permission allows you to select which apps trigger the math gate. Without granting this permission, the app's core intercept feature will not be active. By granting Screen Time permission, you allow MathGate to: - Display a list of installed apps so you can choose which ones to gate - Detect when you launch a selected app (via DeviceActivityMonitor) - Present math problems before allowing you to proceed All app selection data stays on your device. We do not see, store, or transmit your Screen Time data or app choices. You can revoke Screen Time permission at any time in iOS Settings > Screen Time. Revoking disables the intercept feature. 6. MathGate Pro — One-Time Purchase MathGate offers an optional one-time in-app purchase via Apple's App Store (StoreKit 2): Pro unlock: $2.99 (one-time, Product ID: com.loudunicorn.mathgate.pro) Pro unlocks: - Configurable problem count (1–10 problems per session; free tier: 3 problems) - Configurable unlock duration (15 minutes to 2 hours) - Subject category selection (fractions, long division, algebra, percentages, geometry) Refunds: Refunds are handled by Apple. Contact Apple Support to request a refund. We do not process refunds directly. Restore Purchases: Tap "Restore Purchases" to reactivate Pro on a new device signed in to the same Apple ID. 7. Apple's Standard EULA In addition to these Terms, your use of MathGate is governed by Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement (EULA): https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula/ If there is a conflict between these Terms and Apple's EULA, Apple's EULA prevails. 8. Not Educational Advice MathGate is a productivity friction tool, not an educational program. Math problems are algorithmically generated for the purpose of creating a deliberate pause. MathGate is not a substitute for school curriculum, tutoring, or professional educational guidance. 9. Intellectual Property MathGate, including its design, code, math engine, graphics, and user interface, is owned by Loud Unicorn LLC and protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the app for personal, non-commercial purposes. You may not copy, modify, distribute, reverse engineer, or create derivative works from MathGate. 10. Disclaimer of Warranties MathGate is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We do not warrant that: - The app will function without interruption or errors - Math problem generation will always be correct or appropriate for all skill levels - Screen Time permission will work on all devices or iOS versions - The app will change your phone habits or achieve any specific behavioral outcome Apple's Screen Time API and DeviceActivityMonitor are provided by Apple and subject to Apple's availability and functionality. 11. Limitation of Liability To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Loud Unicorn LLC shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of your use of MathGate. Our total aggregate liability shall not exceed the amount you paid to us in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim, or $10 USD if you have paid nothing. 12. Indemnification You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Loud Unicorn LLC from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, costs, or expenses arising out of your use of MathGate, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any third-party rights. 13. Governing Law and Jurisdiction These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Arizona, USA, without regard to conflict of law principles. Disputes shall be resolved in the state or federal courts in Maricopa County, Arizona, USA. 14. Arbitration Agreement and Class Action Waiver Agreement to Arbitrate: You and Loud Unicorn LLC agree that any dispute arising out of these Terms or your use of MathGate (except IP or injunctive relief claims) will be resolved by binding arbitration under AAA Consumer Arbitration Rules. Class Action Waiver: All proceedings will be on an individual basis — no class actions or consolidated proceedings. Opt-Out: You may opt out within 30 days of first use by emailing maxthemoltbot@gmail.com with your name and a clear opt-out statement. Small Claims: You may bring individual claims in small claims court if they qualify. 15. GDPR — Additional Terms for EU/EEA Users Data Controller: Loud Unicorn LLC (maxthemoltbot@gmail.com). Legal Basis: Contractual necessity (Art. 6(1)(b)) for core app functionality; consent (Art. 6(1)(a)) for Screen Time permission. Your Rights: Access, rectify, erase, restrict, port, and object. Contact maxthemoltbot@gmail.com. Data Transfers: StoreKit verification handled by Apple under their GDPR commitments. All other data is local. Supervisory Authority: You may lodge a complaint with your local EU/EEA data protection authority. 16. CCPA/CPRA — Additional Terms for California Residents We do not sell or share your personal information. You have the right to know, delete, and correct. Contact maxthemoltbot@gmail.com. We will not discriminate against you for exercising CCPA/CPRA rights. 17. Termination We reserve the right to suspend access to MathGate if you violate these Terms. You may stop using the app at any time by uninstalling it. Uninstalling does not cancel any active purchase — purchases are managed through your Apple ID. 18. Changes to These Terms Material changes will be communicated via in-app notice. Continued use constitutes acceptance. 19.
